We started our little business Calnatives.garden in June 2015 as a project mom, daughter and son could work on together. We have done quite a bit of research on California Native plants in the preparations for our own lawn overhaul in 2013. You can see in one of our posts what we have done. We have saved more than half of our water since we removed a pool, covered the space with turf and pavers, and re-landscaped our lawn into low water and California native plants.
The drought makes us aware of the precious nature of water, which might not have been apparent when it wasn’t as scarce. Californians should always conserve water, whether we are in a drought or not. One result of the extravagant water use in California is the depletion of the ground water in central California where much of the CA agriculture is centered. We need to get back into balance…
